original version of my poem DARK MOON TO THE SOUTH.

Dark Moon to the South

by Carlos Mijares Poyer, (c)copyright, May 22, 2016, Carlos Mijares Poyer.

The fanning continental avenues where wind breathes good moods
The Latin river silver the Anaconda watching you in the night
and the red-haired bats with faces
The size of tigers hang from the trees to jump you.
Who said Vampires only lurked in Gotham?

The Phantom Rolls-Royce purple immaculate
Races opening the wounds of poor pedestrians
To the height and apogee of slums in
The Lost Metropolis of silent windowpanes.

The Beauty Queens of the hip that stole erotika
In your reverie of desire, and the rich laugh
At high decibels of hysteric desperation
To market the Red Scare and the Eagle’s Dare!

This Smile has no horizon, it is in the heart.
The giant rodent Chiguires the size of baby pandas
And the coral reefs of your spine
Of multifoliate shades of blue ocean in your eyes
From snowy sun to wet leaf,
The humid smile intonates candy-colored tones
On the marimbas and Salsa falls to your laps
Like a dead pearl necklace unleashed...

Soon, after the rain the city’s mountain runner
Smiles again
As the traffic jam issued the last gun shot
To vacuum your soul like the last sigh
Of a Spanish poem.
These in the last gaze of the Caribbean Sea.

glossary: Chiguire is the Venezuelan name for Capybara, the largest rodent in planet Earth.

THE SPEAKING DOG, POEM / EL PERRITO PARLANTE, POEMA

copyright by Carlos E. Mijares Poyer, Dec. 2014.

Can a midget dog dress
Like Oscar Wilde?
Can the moon light the Sun
Like your palms your face?

I am not like in the making of a rebel
Country in waiting momentum,
That’s for atoms and rainbows.

Their loud conversation and monologues
Two days in remembrance unreal
Could be over heard the angles of several buildings
Of white facades
Staring at each other in utter recognition
Like distant moons as statues.

And the Speaking Dog said:

“Where, have my legs gone?”

“I was not invited to this community development war
Of imagery and verse.”

The dinosaur entering, stood there

“Try talking to parrots, they are into poetry reading.”

The parrot and the dog barked like humans.

And, as the last drop of liquid breath appeared in his eyes
The city realized in integral making
Into a new mercurious bubble.

And yet, construed the traffic
And the laser-eyed pedestrians
To reveal mortality, all of those vivid Spectrums

The issue went on
Like a loud-speaker technically unleashed and insane!

The manifesto: finally appeared and arrived sullen in a perfumed envelope
While the ants waiting counted his last word:

I will not wait to remember.

THE GENRE OF A SCREAM-EL GÉNERO DE UN GRITO-proema

The lipid jet airliner crossing the sky
like a jailbird forgotten
the drum-roll of Sun
and the snare drum roll of miniature para-diddles of colors
vast unleashed freezing magic

"Scream", said the Priest.

The beast will leave you
like a cinematic alien
leaving your entrails
to decor those white cotton bed sheets

It was all a dream of Stars

in a night that harbored no tomorrow
no tomorrow

the end was no tomorrow
